કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
(૧) ધર્મકુંવરની રીત સુણી મનમાં ધરો
અમારે તો બધાય સરખા જ છે
હૃદયની શસ્ત્રક્રિયા બાદ તા. ૬/૮/૧૯૯૮ની સાંજે ઉતારેથી આઠેક કિ.મી.ના અંતરે આવેલા પ્લે લૅન્ડ પાર્કમાં પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજ પધાર્યા. અહીં બગીચાના ઊંચા ઢોળાવે ખીલેલા એક વૃક્ષ નીચે બાંકડા પર બિરાજેલા સ્વામીશ્રીએ આરતી-અષ્ટકના આહ્નિક બાદ સંતોને કીર્તન ગાવા કહ્યું. આ આદેશ ઝીલી સૌએ લલકારેલાં ‘ધર્મકુંવરની રીત...’ અને ‘સુખસાગર હરિવર સંગે...’ ભજનો સ્વામીશ્રીની ઉપદેશગંગાની ગંગોત્રી બની રહ્યાં.
એ શાંત એકાંતમાં સ્વામીશ્રીના મુખેથી અમૃતધારા વહેવા લાગી:
“ધર્મકુંવરની રીત સુણી મનમાં ધરો... એ રીત તમે સમજશો તો સદા મગ્ન થઈને એમની સાથે રહેવાશે. એમની રુચિ સમજ્યા ન હોઈએ તો ભેગા ફરીએ તોય લોલંલોલ. સત્સંગ ખોટો છે? ભગવાન ખોટા છે? સંત ખોટા છે? ના. આપણો સ્વભાવ ને આપણે ખોટા છીએ. સત્સંગ તો એનો એ જ છે. ભગવાનની મૂર્તિ એની એ જ છે. સંત એના એ જ છે. પણ આપણા સ્વભાવને લઈને મજા ન આવી.
“પુરુષોત્તમને નથી કોઈ પર પોતાતણું... ‘જો, પેલા પર વધારે હેત રાખે છે, આપણને ગણતા નથી, આપણે સેવા કરી ઘસાઈ છૂટ્યા તોય આપણું કાંઈ નહીં...’ એવું અમારે કાંઈ પા૨કું-પોતાનું છે નહીં. અમારે તો બધાય સરખા જ છે. પણ આપણી રુચિ પ્રમાણે ન થયું અને બીજાનું કદાચ રાખ્યું તો એમ થઈ જાય કે એનું રાખે છે ને મારું રાખતા નથી! આવા ભાવોને લઈને ભેગા રહીએ તોપણ આનંદ ક્યાંથી આવે? એટલે જોગી મહારાજ કહેતા કે, ‘નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિ એ જ ભક્તિ.’ બે માળા ઓછી ફેરવો, તપ ઓછાં કરો એનો વાંધો નથી, પણ નિર્દોષભાવ રહેવો જોઈએ.
“કરુણાનિધિમાં કામાદિક વ્યાપે નહીં... આ આપણે અખંડ ધ્યાન રાખવાનું છે. એમાં સ્વભાવ દેખાય તોય નથી, કા૨ણ કે છે જ નહીં! દેખવા છતાં ન મનાય તો અખંડ આનંદ રહે.
“કડવાં વેણ કહે પોતાના દાસને... કડવાં વચન કોને કહે? જે પોતાના હોય એને! એને આગળ વધારવો હોય એટલે જરા વઢીને કહેવું પડે. મૂળજી બ્રહ્મચારીને મહારાજે વગર વાંકે કાઢી મૂક્યા. આ તો વાંક હોય ને કહે તોય ધમપછાડા કરે, એવાય કેટલાક હોય છે. ‘તમે શું સમજો છો? કેટલાય આમ કરે છે એને તમે કહેતા નથી અને મને જ કહ્યા કરો છો?’ એવા હોય એ સત્તર જણનું બગાડે. આમ ભેગા રહીને મહિમા સમજવો કઠણ.
“આપણને ડૉક્ટર, વાળંદ વગેરેમાં વિશ્વાસ છે તો ભગવાન જેવા સંત મળ્યા એમાં વિશ્વાસ ન હોવો જોઈએ? એ સદા સુખદાયક છે. એમાં કોઈ ડાઘ નથી, દોષ નથી, પ્રપંચ નથી, લોભ નથી, મારું-તારું નથી. એમ નિર્દોષભાવ રાખી પ્યાર કરશો તો ચોવીસેય કલાક આનંદ આવશે.”

(1) Dharmakuvarnī rīt suṇī manmā dharo
Everyone Is the Same to Us
August 6, 1998. After recovering from the heart bypass surgery, Pramukh Swami Maharaj spent one evening in Play Land Park located 8 kilometers away from his accomodation. In the park, he sat on a bench and completed the daily arti and ashtak. Then, he asked the sadhus to sing. They sang ‘Dharmakuvarnī rīt suṇī manmā dharo’ and ‘Sukhsāgar Harivar sange sukh māṇjo’. Swamishri spoke on the meanings of these kirtans:
“Dharmakuvarnī rīt suṇī manmā dharo... (understand the way of Maharaj) If you understand it, you will be forever delighted and will be able to stay with him. If you do not understand his wishes, then even if you stay with him, anything you do will be meaningless. Is Satsang wrong? Is Bhagwan false? Is the Sant false? No. We are wrong and our nature is false. The Satsang is the same. Bhagwan’s murti is the same. The Sant is the same. But we do not enjoy it because of our nature.
“Purushottamne nathī koī par potātaṇu... (Bhagwan does not favor anyone more than others.) ‘Look, Maharaj has more love for him and he does not even consider us. Even though we bent over backwards doing sevā, he does not acknowledge us.’ We (Bhagwan and the Sant) do not distinguish people as some belonging to us and others not. Everyone is the same to us. But if something did not happen according to our wishes and something happened according to someone else’s wishes, then one will feel that he favors the other person over me. When we have such feelings, how can we be happy despite being close to him? That is why Yogiji Maharaj used to say: ‘Devotion is believing Bhagwan and the Sant are innocent.’ Turn 2 fewer mālās, fast fewer days - that is not a problem. But one must understand Bhagwan and the Sant are innocent and free of faults.
“Karuṇānidhimā kāmādik vyāpe nahi... (Bhagwan is not subject to lust, etc.) We should keep this in mind always. Even if one notices such natures, they are not there because they are simply not there. If one notices faults yet does not believe, then one will experience happiness.
“Kadvā veṇ kahe potānā dāsne... (He speaks harsh words to his devotees.) Who does he say harsh words to? To those who are his. He wants to make them progress, so he may scold them slightly. He rebuked Mulji Brahmachari and sent him away. But some people raise a conundrum when scolded despite being at fault. They might argue, ‘What do you know? Other people do this and you do not say anything to them.’ People like this will spoil 17 others. To understand the greatness while remaining close is difficult.
“We trust doctors, barbers, etc. Should we not have the same trust in Bhagwan and the Sant? They are the source of happiness. They have no blemishes, flaws, deceit, greed, this is yours and this is mine, etc. If you love them believing them to be flawless, then you will be happy 24 hours a day.”
